Our Haute Wheels Dog Wheelchair helps pets regain the freedom and mobility that a multitude of injuries, surgeries, conditions, and advanced age may have taken from your dog. The wheelchair's seven fully adjustable sizes accommodate everything from toy dog breeds to many giant breeds - as well as many other four-legged companions, including cats, pigs, and even goats, that may need a little help getting around.

Benefits:

Wheelchairs allow your dog to get some much needed exercise. They can build muscle in their legs which makes getting around much easier and reduces atrophy, or the reduction of muscle in key areas.
Your dog can get around post-surgery if they just underwent an operation. They can also attend physical therapy sessions in their wheelchair to increase their mobility
Since your dog will be able to get around much more easily, they will experience less pain and stress. Dragging themselves to get around is painful and stressful on their joints, it can also cause abrasions to their limbs from constantly being dragged.
Your dog will be much happier since they will become more independent. They will be able to get back to some of their favorite activities without being in pain or work too hard.
The wheelchair holds your dog’s spine in a better alignment than scooting or dragging themselves. This helps slow the progression of some spinal injuries and disorders, such as IVDD or Degenerative Myelopathy.
Wheelchairs provide added balance which can prevent further injury to the spine and can prevent secondary injury to the front limbs since they won’t have to work as hard.

Leading leash and padded lifting leash allow for different uses of each harness while being comfortable for you and your pet.

Harness Sizing:

Our wheelchairs come with harnesses and belly belts that match the size of the frame ordered. For example, a medium wheelchair includes a medium front harness, rear harness, and belly belt. If your pet requires a different size for the harness or belly belt, you can purchase these separately on our website.

Please ensure you measure your dog per the harness guideline to order the size needed.

LENGTH - Measure from the base of the tail to the middle of the shoulder along the side of the dog.

HEIGHT - Measure from the base of front foot to top of the shoulders while your dog is standing or sitting.

WIDTH - Measure between the shoulders or the widest area of the body.

WILL MY DOG'S WHEELCHAIR FIT THROUGH DOORWAYS?

Yes, your dog will be able to fit through doorways. However, it may take your dog time to learn how to navigate through the door frame while wearing the wheelchair. Observe and encourage your dog while they are mastering this skill.

CAN MY DOG “DO THEIR BUSINESS” WHILE USING THEIR WHEELCHAIR?

Yes, your dog can pee and poop with minimal or no mess. The rear harness includes a reinforced channel to provide support and urinary direction for male dogs.

CAN MY DOG SIT OR LAY DOWN IN THEIR WHEELCHAIR?

No, this wheelchair is for active use only. Be sure to provide your dog with a 15-minute break after approximately every hour of use. Note that the amount of time that your dog may want to stay in the wheelchair will depend on their individual activity level.

CAN MY DOG USE THEIR HIND LEGS WHILE IN THE WHEELCHAIR?

Yes, if your dog has movement in their hind legs then they should be left out of the foot straps. You can remove the foot straps from the frame if your dog won't be using them. If your dog's hind legs are paralyzed, use the foot straps to prevent injury to their feet when they use their wheelchair.

HOW LONG WILL IT TAKE FOR MY DOG TO GET USED TO THE WHEELCHAIR?

It depends on your dog. Some dogs will only take a few days, while others may require much longer. Patience, praise, and practice are crucial in helping your dog become comfortable with their wheelchair. Treats may also help!

CAN I LEAVE MY DOG ALONE IN THEIR WHEELCHAIR?

No, you should not leave your dog unattended while using the wheelchair. They could potentially get caught on or trip over objects, which might result in injury.

WILL MY DOG BE ABLE TO PLAY WITH OTHER DOGS?

Absolutely! Please keep in mind that it may take other dogs time to get accustomed to your dog's wheelchair. Always observe your dog’s interactions with other dogs.

CAN MY DOG USE STAIRS WHILE IN THEIR WHEELCHAIR?

No, your dog will not be able to safely ascend or descend stairs while in the wheelchair. Remove them from the wheelchair to assist them on the stairs. Use ramps when available.

CAN MY DOG GO INTO WATER, LIKE POOLS, LAKES, OR STREAMS WHILE USING THE WHEELCHAIR?

No, the wheelchair is too heavy for your dog to swim with. Any currents could also cause your dog to tip over, which could result in injury or the risk of drowning. Never let your dog enter a body of water while using the wheelchair.

I have tried other brands of wheel chairs with my long hair chihuahua in the past with no success. She absolutely loves her Haute Wheels chair. She not only is able to run outside on her own now, but she is starting to gain more confidence every day to walk on non-carpeted floors something she hasn’t done in YEARS!

Love it!

Frankie has been having problems with his back legs for awhile. He recently got his diagnosed with cancer but he’s still such a super active guy! The wheels are adjustable depending on the support he needs for that day and once he’s in it his tail I wagging! Comes with a bag for easy storage or if you want to take a road trip to the park!

Great Wheels

Very happy with the Haute Wheels Dog Wheelchair. The chair is lightweight and easy to assemble. Our small dog took off immediately in the chair and it is helping with her to use back legs that became non functional. She is so happy to be able to walk with the wheels!

Works for our big dog with some adjustments

Our large shephard lab mix tore both CCLs. He’s too old for surgery. We are also waiting for custom braces.

The XL shoulder harness was too small and the front end rode too low. I attached it to a regular dog harness and it works ok now. They should have a bigger harness. Our dog isn’t that huge!

Also, there is no instructional video or manual for how to position the extra brace for the xl wheelchair.

He walks easily in it and it is lightweight.

We do have to be ready to catch up he back of it if he takes a corner too fast or turns in a circle as it will tip! This may be less of an issue with shorter dogs with a lower center of gravity.

Overall, however, we are happy we can continue taking our dog on the walks he loves.
